Children's Fitness Receipts for Income Tax
We are in the process of printing the Children's Fitness Receipts for income tax purposes. They will be made available to the Directors at the March 1st executive meeting at the latest. Directors, please, check your mailboxes whenever you are at the rink over the next week. Families, who have paid under the Family Plan, will receive all of their receipts together from one of their children's coaches. If each child was paid for individually, each of the receipts will be distributed through the respective teams.
2010-2011 Registration Forms
Registration forms will be made available near the end of March. They will be handed out through the Directors to the team Managers. The fees for next year will remain the same.
TOURNAMENT OVERTIME PROCEDURES - ARE CHANGES NECESSARY?
Many people have probably heard about the exciting finish to the Pee Wee B finals during the Ken Closs Christmas Jamboree. The game ended up being 22 periods long, with 19 overtime periods. It was a very exciting game, but was long and tiring for both teams.
The game took about 2 ½ hours to complete and, unfortunately, put the schedule behind a bit. During the Ken Closs Christmas Jamboree and the Play-offs, the games are allowed to run over the allotted time slot, if necessary. For all other games during the season, the clock is run to make sure the games are finished in the allotted time periods.
This was a rare situation; however, the Executive is looking at possibly altering the overtime rules to avoid this situation ever happening again. The Executive is looking for some suggestions or feedback about the process. Listed in the poll are some suggestions that have been brought forward. They will all be looked at by the Executive with many other things taken into consideration when the final decision is made. If you have any other suggestions, not listed in the poll, please email the webmaster so they can also be considered. (Note: During overtime periods, fair ice-time rules do not apply.)
Option 1: Keep overtime rules as they are now – two-minute, 4-man period, followed by a two-minute, 3-man period, followed by a two-minute, 2-man period, and it remains a two-minute, 2-man situation until the game is won by sudden victory.
Option 2: Keep the two-minute, 4-man period, followed by a two-minute, 3-man period. However, instead of going down to two-minute periods, any remaining periods would be 10-minutes long until the game is won by sudden victory. These periods would still be 2-man periods. The difference from the original procedure would be that less time would be wasted in between the two-minute periods.
Option 3: Change to a five-minute, 4-man period, then a shoot out. Each team would have to identify three shooters at the end of the tied game. If the game is still tied, after the five-minute period, the teams would take turns shooting until all three shooters, from each team, have taken their turn, if necessary. After that, each team would identify their next shooter, and the teams would take turns until the game is won. No one would be able to shoot twice unless the team has gone through the complete roster once, excluding the goalie that is dressed.
Option 4: Keep the original overtime rules; however, only go down to 3 on 3 during the two-minute periods.
Option 5: Start with a two-minute, 5-man period, followed by a two-minute, 4-man period. The next period would be a 10-minute, 3-man period. The game is won by sudden victory. If the game is still tied after that, the teams would have a 3-man shoot out. The teams would take turns shooting until all three shooters, from each team, have taken their turn, if necessary. After that, each team would identify their next shooter, and the teams would take turns until the game is won. No one would be able to shoot twice unless the team has gone through the complete roster once, excluding the goalie that is dressed.
